Enquiries and Application ProcessInitial Enquiries
Initial enquiries about possible tenancy should be made of Daniel Clark, the Chambers' Director, either in writing or by telephone. All such contacts will be treated in the utmost confidence.
Application Process
Formal applications comprising a covering letter and CV, should be made in writing to Daniel Clark, Chambers' Director. The envelope should be marked 'Tenancy Application' . The application will then be circulated to at least four members of the Tenancy Committee [link to Tenancy Committee under Chambers' Management] who will decide whether the application should be considered further. This initial process should be completed within ten working days. In the event that the application is rejected, the Chambers' Director will write to notify the applicant. Where the decision is taken to proceed with the application, the Chambers' Director and Senior Clerk will meet formally with the applicant to establish practice details in greater depth. If it is judged that the application should be progressed, the applicant will be invited for interview with the Tenancy Committee, usually having met a small number of members practising within their field of expertise. Tenancy interviews usually take place on a weekday evening after 6 pm.
The Tenancy Committee is empowered to make a recommendation to Chambers about an application. If the recommendation is a positive one, the applicant will be offered tenancy after 10 working days providing no member of chambers requests that the application be considered at an EGM. This will delay the application until an EGM can be held.
We would hope to complete any application process within six weeks. |
